Volunteerism
At Las Palmas Medical Center you can practice volunteerism by devoting yourself to the welfare of others. This process will give you a healthy heart and a healthy mind. Volunteering can make a difference in your life and in the lives of others. Read below to determine if you have what it takes to be a volunteer.
Criteria to Volunteer
You must be 18 years of age or older, in good health and possess a great attitude and a big smile. You must also be prepared for change, volunteering at Las Palmas Medical Center will make a difference in your life and in the lives of others.
Position Descriptions
Administrative Positions: Stuffing envelopes and answering phones are two of the many duties for an administrative volunteer who is vital to the daily operations at Las Palmas Medical Center.
People Person Positions: Greeting visitors and giving tours is a perfect volunteer position for someone who loves working with people and making Las Palmas Medical Center a warm and inviting place to be.
Medical Staff Assistants: Working on one of the many units at Las Palmas Medical Center as a medical staff assistant is a great way to gain experience and lend a helping hand.
Scholarship Program
The Auxiliary Volunteers raise money through the gift shop to award scholarships for the following: Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy. To qualify for a scholarship the individual needs to be a United States Citizen and enrolled in an accredited educational institution. Scholarships are typically awarded during the 5th or 7th semester the student has attended. On average, Las Palmas Medical Center awards 40 scholarships a year.
Scholarship recipients are not required to volunteer, although volunteering at Las Palmas Medical Center is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in the medical field. For more information scroll down and fill out the contact form below.
Fund Raisers
The Auxiliary Volunteers also donate money to non profit organizations. Their latest fundraiser was in support of the Cardiac Rehab program at the LifeCare Center. For more information about upcoming fundraising events or how to get involved, fill out the contact form below.
